As part of the addiction treatment programme, you will attend and engage in a variety of workshops.
These are deigned to give you more information about addiction and recovery processes as well as develop skills you will need to maintain a long term recovery.
Workshops at The Providence Projects are interactive and not simply a case of being lectured!
The one-one counselling offers all clients a safe place to explore a variety of issues including:
- Addiction
- Boundaries
- Relationships
- Shame & Guilt
- 12 Steps
- Self Esteem
- Assertiveness
- Relapse Prevention
- Thinking Errors
Much more will be covered in these sessions and they are a great place to gather information about addiction and recovery as well as developing and practicing skills that are essential to overcome either addiction or alcoholism.
Written Assignments
As part of the rehab process, you will be asked by your focal therapist to complete assignments on certain issues. Don’t worry if you find writing difficult as there are other options available to you and they are not marked!
The therapeutic process of putting pen to paper and hearing yourself read this out to either your counsellor or your peers is unquestionable. There are a variety of assignments that you may be asked to do as part of your rehab. These will be personal to you but will often include:
- Life History
- Exploring your alcohol or drug use in greater detail.
- Consequences of addiction
- Blocks and resources to recovery
- Relationships
- Relapse Prevention
- Asking for help
- Self Esteem
