Transforming Lives
Day by Day
As a leading rehab provider in the UK, we’ve had our share of stories over the years, including high-profile footballers and musicians. Watch some of our client success stories and experience the transformation in your own life.
Established in September 1996.
Providence Projects formally opened its doors in September 1996. Steve Spiegel, who had been working and lecturing in the field of addiction treatment both in the UK and abroad had a vision of a new style of drug and alcohol rehab in the UK.
From Addiction to Advocacy
Steve had been affected by alcoholism and drug addiction for over 30 years. He had been into countless detox and rehabs throughout the time with little or no success before finally getting clean. After training as a counsellor, Steve worked in the leading private drug and alcohol rehab facilities, often designing new programmes and implementing ideas that he had developed as a result of his personal and professional experience.
Steve’s Vision for a Comprehensive Treatment Center
Steve found that although people would often appear to do well whilst in treatment, many would relapse within 12 months of completing their programme. His vision was to design and create a treatment centre which would prepare individuals for life after rehab to ensure long-term recovery.
Aligned Paths
Steve was passionate that he wanted this to work and by a series of coincidences met Dr Peter Turnbull. Dr Turnbull himself had also worked in the addiction field for many years and was widely seen to be the leading addiction specialist GP in the South of England. Soon after they met, it was apparent that they shared many of the same beliefs about recovery and Providence Projects was born.
A Legacy of Growth, Innovation, and Unparalleled Success
Since opening in 1996, Providence Projects has continued to grow, going from strength to strength. During this time, the programme has been continuously streamlined and tweaked to ensure that latest evidence-based techniques are used. With success rates that are second to none.
Leading the Way in Rehab
Providence Projects have consulted government on drug policy, acted as consultant to several other treatment centres who have opened during this time, as well as provided drug and alcohol rehab programmes to Transport For London and ITV. Providence Projects are one of the leading rehab facilities in England.
