at Providence Projects, Bournemouth
Recovery is a lifelong journey, not something that ends once you complete rehab treatment. The first weeks and months at home can feel especially fragile, as familiar triggers and stresses resurface. Without continued guidance and connection, progress made in treatment can quickly unravel. The UKAT Alumni Programme is designed to carry you forward after you leave the Providence Projects. It connects you with a community of peers, ongoing support services and events that help you keep recovery at the heart of your new life.
The UKAT Alumni Programme is a lifelong recovery community open to everyone who has completed treatment at the Providence or across UKAT’s rehab network. It is designed to help everyone stay connected, finding strength in shared experiences and continuing the support that starts in rehab.
Our Alumni Programme is included in the cost of alcohol and drug rehab, and you will be invited to join in the final step of our treatment pathway right after you finish primary or secondary treatment, or during sober living should you choose that programme. Since its inception in 2017, the programme has welcomed over 1,000 members and continues to grow. It gives you the chance to stay in touch with everyone you meet at Providence and also make entirely new friends.
Addiction thrives on isolation, but recovery thrives on connection. That is why the UKAT Alumni Programme is just as important as the inpatient care you receive at the Providence Projects or our other centres. The Alumni Programme offers a lifetime of connection, so from day one after rehab, you are part of a family of people walking the same path. Some of the biggest benefits include:
With our Alumni Programme, you will always have someone to turn to at our social events or in online group chats with fellow members.
Back in the real world, cravings and pressures can creep in as soon as you walk out the doors of Providence Projects. You may be back in an unhealthy home environment, a stressful life situation or in contact with people who are not helpful for your recovery. Our Alumni Programme gives you immediate support, practical tips and encouragement to help lessen the shock of leaving the safety of rehab and keep you on the right path.
It is normal to waver once you’re back home, especially if you feel like everything went completely smoothly in rehab. This complacency can be very dangerous, but our alumni resources and regular check-ins keep you motivated and focused on your recovery goals.
Every achievement matters, and lifelong recovery is often about a series of small goals. In our Alumni Programme, your progress will be recognised and celebrated, giving you the encouragement to keep going no matter what stage you’re at.
One of the best parts of the UKAT Alumni programme is that it’s not all serious! Throughout the year, we host a range of events like adventure activities, summer BBQs (when the British weather allows), festive Christmas parties and guest speaker sessions that leave you feeling inspired. These events bring Alumni members together, giving you the chance to reconnect with those you met in treatment and to make new friends across the UKAT family.
Recovery from addiction is not a short-term fix. That is why our treatment pathway is designed to provide you with all the tools you need not just to achieve recovery, but maintain it after treatment.
Jon’s life was going downhill because of his addiction.
The Providence Team helped turn it all around with our dedicated therapies and workshops.
Relapse can feel frightening, but being part of our Alumni Programme means you won’t ever have to face it on your own. If a relapse happens, your Alumni community is right there to listen, share their own experiences and remind you that recovery isn’t wiped out by one mistake.
Because you’re already connected to UKAT, re-entering rehab (if you need it) is simple and quick. Our staff will already know your history and can slot you straight back into the support you need. For many people, just having that option brings huge peace of mind.
And if you don’t need to return, our Alumni Programme can still give you everything you need to steady yourself and get back on track. With the support of your peers, what may have seemed like the end of your recovery can begin to feel like just another step forward.

Absolutely nothing. The UKAT Alumni Programme is completely free to every person who has completed treatment at any of UKAT’s centres. From the day you finish rehab, you are automatically part of the community for life. That means you’ll never have to worry about membership fees or hidden costs, just ongoing support, connection and encouragement whenever you need it.
Yes. No matter which UKAT centre you attended, you will have access to the Alumni Programme. This means you can meet people from other centres as well as keep in touch with those you went through treatment with. It creates a much wider recovery community to share your recovery journey with.
Both. The Alumni Programme includes regular in-person events like adventure days, BBQs, parties and guest speaker sessions, as well as an active online community. There are also private Facebook groups, newsletters and other resources to keep you connected between meetups. This mix means you can stay supported every single day but also have real-world opportunities to meet friends, celebrate milestones and build social confidence in recovery.
